Green Building at COP29 in Baku

COP29 in Baku was a tremendous success, attracting over 70,000 registrations from around the world. Green building emerged as a significant topic, featuring prominently in numerous side events throughout the conference.

Guy Eames, Chair of the Russian Green Building Council (RuGBC), presented at Russia’s Pavilion on “The Potential for International Cooperation.” The session was moderated by Tadzio Schilling, Chair of the Association of European Businesses in Russia. Notable participants included Boris Titov of Abrau Durso and Andrei Sharonov from the ESG Alliance, among others.

In his presentation, Guy discussed the shift away from “legacy” rating tools in favor of collaborative efforts within a “Green BRICS” network. He emphasized the importance of innovative approaches and international partnerships in advancing sustainable building practices.

Additionally, Guy spoke at a session at the Kyrgyz Pavilion focused on developing green building cooperation within the CIS and BRICS regions. The session featured speakers from India, the European Union, Kyrgyzstan, and Brazil, highlighting the global commitment to sustainable development and the shared goal of promoting green building initiatives across different nations.

The active participation and diverse representation at COP29 underscore the growing importance of green building in the global agenda. RuGBC remains committed to fostering international cooperation and leading efforts toward a more sustainable future.
